Know all men by these Presents that I Joseph
\nT. Baldwin of the Township of Newark in the
\nCounty of Essex, For under consideration of the sum of
\nOne hundred seventy five dollars to me in hand paid, have
\nbargained and sold unto James Neilson his heirs
\nand assigns a certain negro man of about twenty
\nsix years of age named Teunis, to have & to hold
\nsaid man unto him the said James Neilson
\nhis heirs & assigns forever: and I do hereby for myself
\nmy heirs executors & administrators against the
\nclaim of any person or persons whatsoever, the property
\nand quiet and peaciable possession of the said
\nNegro man to him the said James Neilson
\nhis heirs and assigns forever warrant and
\ndefend \u2014 as witness whereof I do hereunto
\nset my hand and seal this twenty\u201dth day of
\nApril One Thousand eight hundred & fourteen<\/p>\n
