My Body, My Choice: A Reminder of Respect and Autonomy
Description
As a woman, I am reminded daily that my body is viewed by some as a battleground for control, legislation, and judgment. But let me make one thing abundantly clear: my body is no one’s choice but mine. No man, no institution, and no government have the right to dictate what I can and cannot do with it.
The lack of respect for women in this country is not only heartbreaking it's enraging. How can men claim to love and honor their mothers, sisters, or daughters while perpetuating a culture that strips women of their autonomy? Do they ever stop to think about the hypocrisy of their actions? If you cannot respect women as human beings, how do you respect the very women who raised you?
Control over one’s body is a basic human right. Women have fought for generations to have their voices heard, to claim ownership of their futures, and to challenge those who attempt to police their existence. Yet here we are, still fighting battles we shouldn’t have to fight.
This is not just about reproductive rights! It’s about dignity and freedom. A society that disrespects women’s autonomy sends a clear message that women are less than equal. I refuse to accept that, and I refuse to stay silent.
To every man: Reflect on how you treat the women in your life. If you wouldn’t want someone controlling your mother’s, sister’s, or daughter’s choices, you have no business attempting to control mine.
We deserve better. We demand better.
